M.A.Taraghijah. Born: Tehran, 1943. Graduated in mechanical engineering from the College of Science & Technology, Tehran. Won gold medal at Iran's inter-collegiate arts competition, 1967. First exhibited his still-life paintings at the Tehran Gallery, 1976, and then at the International Art Fair, Basle, 1978. By the beginning of the 1980s developed a unique style of painting, characterised by stylized horses that became his trademark. Since then he has exhibited widely, including at: Basel, Bern, Cane , Chicago, Dacca, Dubai, Florance, Geneva, Innsbruck, Leiden, Lisbon, Los Angeles, Madrid, Mexico City, Montreux, Netherlands, New York, Paris, Beijing, Pforzheim, Riyadh, Sharjeh, Stuttgart, Teheran, Tokyo, Wien, Washington D.C. and Zurich. His paintings selected by the International Museum of 20th Century Arts (TIMOTCA) to present Iran’s Art. Works in the collection of Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) and Museum of Modern Arts of Sharjeh (U.A.E.).

M.A.Taraghijah: "The horses in my paintings ride free of the earth, as do the roosters, human forms and mountains. This symbolizes their constant thoughts of their origins, paradise, where there is peace, harmony and love. Their desire is to fly and to return home to loved ones. The colour white in my paintings symbolizes God. We feel his presence close to us everywhere."
